1993 khs montana pro UPDATE 13/3/10

thats a bargain. my dad has a summit. the frames are very similar to look at and both made from true temper but they are not the same tubing - the pro is a fair bit lighter. cool bikes though

it is just over 22 now but the scales are not overly accurate.

i have also sourced a set of original rigid forks if i want to h=get the weight really down.

all very academic wher there's 17 stone sat on it though

update.

my rocky mountain is replacing this as my singlespeed bike so i am reverting this back to (close to) factory spec. it is going to take a while but will definately be worth it.

i am going to try and keep it rideable all the time though. i like the frame so much i dontr want it hanging in my shed just because it doesnt have the right valve caps on.

so.. the cranks are sill 735 xt but now wear 3 chainrings. the jury is out on the purple middle ring. it looks great when the chainset is in your hand but on the bike i'm not convinced. it is the only one i have at present so it is staying for now.

the carbon bars have been replaced with a set of original zoom in the original black. really pleased with those, stem is the same - original zoom.

ritchey levers have made way for m095 xt sti units. i am not 100% these are correct but they are certainly the right year so will do for now and will probably stay.

still torn on the forks. i have my dad's montana summit rigid fork in the shed but they are plain guage steel and the wrong colour and he wont let me paint them. i also like the bit of comfort you get from sus so the rock shox are staying for now. thinking of painting them gold, despite how awesome they look polished.

front mech is a 736 xt and was the main stumbling block in getting this started. i thought i had the right meck only to find it was bottom pull not top. i went on a mission to find a top pull and eventually found a decent one on ebay. i offered the seller silly money (that i cant afford) to end early which he did. a couple of days later i am fishing around in my front mech box and what should i find? you guessed it, 736 top pull mech. bugger.

the carbon post is definat5ely not staying!

your comments and criticisms are most welcome

Does the paint on yours have little tiny green metalflakes in it? i've been thinking some green ano parts would really help bring that out.

mine has purple metalflakes, hence the decision to use a bit of purple. i would give a bit of green a try. could look great

quick pic. purple bolts have gone, going to ditch the ring too.

fork needs another polish.

hopefully going to ride this on sunday. it will be the first time i've ridden it since fitting gears
