1992 Orange Aluminium Elite. Completed! New pics!

Re: 1992 Orange Aluminium Elite

So... it’s been a while since I updated this. Work been manic and been doing jobs in garden in between but after many hours of stripping laquer and polishing I’m nearly there! Just have rear stays to polish then decals will be goin on and hopefully I’ll see a more steady progress.

Here’s a few pics of her tonight. Is coming up well. Autosol applied and buffed then further layer of autosol with a little water to fine polish.

Can’t wait to get the decals on once stays done!

This has taken many man hours!

I previously did a P7 and that was labour intensive but this has been on another level. Just laquer harder to strip and seems to be harder to polish to the level I have wanted but it’s almost paid off....

Re: 1992 Orange Aluminium Elite

Fantastic work on both frames there guys, well done. It takes what seems forever to get there but all that hard work has paid off for you. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the progress.

Re: 1992 Orange Aluminium Elite

Finally sone decent progress made!

The pace RC35 forks are stripped. I need new elastomers so will be looking into that. Also I found time this morn to fit the decals (thanks again to Gil M for perfect reproduction decals) and feel like I’ve turned a corner after all the hours of stripping the laquer and polishing the frame to within an inch of its life!

I found that autosol worked great, and with a polishing mop on my hand held drill and a little water for the last cut, worked a treat. I then used T cut to polish it up to a high shine and remove any residues before lastly a simple rub over with damp kitchen roll before yet another polish up with more soft kitchen till to make it dry.

Now the fun of bolting it back together after more cleaning and polishing of the period XT groupset.
