This just arrived!

It’s a 17inch but looks bigger... maybe due to the geometry. Not a single dent!

A one owner bike purchased from a lovely guy who was selling it on behalf of his dad who owned it from new back in the day.

Wheels, seatpost, saddle and front mech long gone but bought as we find it here.

After realising the right thumby shifter cover was missing I messaged the guy who sold me it and thankfully he found it so that’s also on way in the post.

Plans....

Full strip including removing laquer from frame and new decals from Gil after a high polish (like my recent P7 build).

The forks don’t move but look in pretty good shape so hopefully just need a strip down and possibly new elastomers?

I have a full period XT groupset inc mechs wheels, chainset and brakes so they will be going on there too. The brakes, rear mech and chainset on this are DX.

I’ve chucked a mint XT mech on in one of the pics here.

Might be a slowish burner tho as have few jobs the wife has tasked me with first in between working shifts!

I’ll update as I go but anticipating a pristine rebuild...

Re:

Thanks guys....

Well pleased with it. Retro wise, I only have my Sunn Xircuit (first generation SIDS inbound from Germany!)and this one now after a recent cull as I have too many modern bikes I actually ride

I still prefer riding modern bikes but looking at and the nostalgia of this retro period when I began racing XC in the Cleveland Hills as a young lad.

I use the Sunn to tootle around with my young kids so dunno what will happen with this but it will be a sunny days only garage queen I recon ....

Re: 1992 Orange Aluminium Elite

I saw this on eBay last week. Picked up a bargain there. Great news that there’s no damage. It has some tasty kit on it too. Look forward to your build!

Re:

This the one from Leeds? Very nearly bought it myself but glad I didn’t if it’s 17”.

Looks lovely although the decals are so bright and original I’d keep them.

Re: 1992 Orange Aluminium Elite

I was tempted to buy it also. But my wife would not be too happy! Glad it’s gone to a great home! And we get to see another great build.

Re:

It certainly is that one....

Decals probably look better in pics than they are and if I’m gonna do a proper job I may as well do it all...

Thanks guys...

I’ll keep the pics coming as you are probably aware I love to post lots of pics as I always think it might help someone else out in future with positioning of bits, cable routes wtc! Or maybe I’m wierd!

Re:

Might need some help with sourcing internal elastomers but I’ll update as I get them stripped...

Long time since I’ve owned pace forks...
