1990 Overbury's Pioneer

Wonderful. That's what this hobby/addiction/illness is all about!
It almost makes the constant struggle, never ending search for parts, the concealment of money spent, the inevitable arguments with the missus over space, the missing out on that one item you reeeeeeally need by a few seconds and the family interventions worth it :)
 
Had a play with the set up this morning with a view to using this bike for dry commutes, taking some of the workload off the Roberts. Switched the wheelset and saddle, managed to shave just shy of 600g off the weight, it rides beautifully and is much more rapid on the roads.

It's nothing that we here don't already know, but the versatility of these lovely old rigid MTBs really is something, the way minor changes can completely alter a bikes character and purpose. A couple of minutes to switch between tarmac and trail modes and these bikes are capable and comfortable on either, and they look the part.
