1990 Muddy Fox Trailblazer Sprint completed!!

Re: 1990 Muddy Fox Trailblazer Sprint

Seen as how this would be eligible for Nov 2020 BOTM, it’s spurred me on to put this at front of my build que to get it done to enter in this months show....

Must make a start on my next rest days.....

Re: 1990 Muddy Fox Trailblazer Sprint

So....
Made a bit of progress this afternoon after getting up off nights....

Original stem fitted...
Front wheel overhauled. Very impressed at how new the cones look. The bearings were grumbling but it turned out to be the fact that the original grease had solidified. Not surprising after 30years!
A thorough clean and regrease and the hubs are running smooth as silk.

Also fitted a new tube and one panaracer pasela which I’m really pleased with as they are very close to the size and look of the original perished rubber.

That’s it for today tho before I go back to work. Some quick pics added just to show the progress as like I mentioned previously, my aim is to have it finished in time for this months BOTM...

Re: 1990 Muddy Fox Trailblazer Sprint

So.... made some decent progress of late between shifts and this and that.

Stripped, cleaned and T cut frame. Touched in any minor imperfections. Greased front hub, fitted new cable inners. Fitted original stem. Fitted new bar table. General clean and polish of all parts prior to reassembly. Did minor repair to corner of saddle.

Only now need to regrease rear bearings (I’m waiting on the sun tour screw on cassette removal tool arriving as I don’t have one), fit rear tyre and tube, true rear wheel and tube and adjust the gears.

Wanting this done to enter in November BOTM....

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed doing this build. Its been great to do something a little different and I absolutely love the colour. It’s even better in the flesh....

Soon to be completed :D

Bike clear and complete!

Finished and in this months BOTM....

Totally factory standard and as it left the factory barring the tyres, blue cables, inner cables, tubes and the bar tape....

Even the brake pads are original!

The most satisfying build I’ve done yet and I’m over the moon with the condition it’s in. The colour is even better in the flesh!

Well happy!

Looks like a fun bike to ride. Nice job too

Re:

This is very deserving of all the positive comments: very nice indeed. I like the look of those Suntour shifters too: makes a whole lot of sense.

Thanks guys... yeah it’s a lovely bike to ride and very different indeed. It’s destined only as a dry weather ‘tootle about’ bike as with all my retro builds and gets some nice comments from passers by. Thanks you
