1989 Fisher Mt Tam TET

So the new bearings came, some 17mm collars, and some 38mm circlips.

Plan was to try and use a hope axel I have...

Bearings fitted good onto both axel and frame but after trying it in the frame the axel shoulders are a tad too wide so bearings were over the circlip groove, overshot on one side by about 2mm 😔.... It was worth a try.

Looks like I will be needing a different axel, the backup plan of using collars I ordered will probably come into play,

After checking the circlips I ordered to see if they fit.... They didn't, 🤨 because they sent 41mm 🤪 ijots

Ah well, whole lot was about £20 so that's not too bad.

In fact I may have a Fisher axle somewhere that I pulled out a 1990 HKII. Suspect is 122mm as was running a DX chainset.

Don't suppose you would let that go..... Would you? Would also need to know what size the raised bit is shoulder to shoulder?

Loving this! My understanding is that 88's also have a U-Brake under the chain stays?

My image library pulls up this Mt Tam which the front half appears to be a similar finish with the hint of metallic sparkle, I always thought this was an 89 (logo and seat stay canti's) but colour suggests 88 (Dark Blue / Light Blue)

Have dug out my spec sheet. Mt Tam Classic is a 1" headtube, (as was that years Procaliber and Competition) available in Blue/Black or Yellow/Green with XT-II. The Mt Tam was indeed evolution and suntour equipped in Plum / Blue Black.

Looking forward to watching your progress.
