1988 stumpjumper help please

arrived today , paid very little on ebay , it may be useless ans end up hanging on the wall which is fine but i would like to try and get it repaired .


cracked chainstay ..

any advice gratefully received .

braze it ?
weld it ?
leave it alone ?

Mig weld should do the job.

got a local guy to weld it up , seems very good just worried it may not be strong enough ?

I had it repaired cheaply by a local company, and it all worked out fine.

This frame is now on the other side of the world, and still being ridden

I have just recently had the same place welded on my kona, it'll be fine
it looks like one of the brake hangers is slightly bent, this may cause you problems with the U brake fitment/function ?
should make into a lovely steed, I really like these late eighties bikes,
