I know some folk find it a bit weird Tim but i prefer a brake setup of left lever to the front and the right to the rear as i tend to be a little heavy handed with my right hand and this setup for me is safer  so
that's how i'd do the brakes unless i were just rebuilding a bike just for show that is ..

Ian I can put the levers whichever way you like :)

Well I've nearly got everything ready to rebuild, just need to tidy up and service the wheels :)

Odd bit of rust but nothing to worry about and fantastic for its age.

I think the Suntour Accushift with big levers are the correct ones, can anyone confirm? The right one is missing the plastic cable holder/guide so trying to locate another if anyone has one? Or I may be able to modify the one off the 200GS lever.

Ooh! tasty tasty and yes the Suntour Accushift are the correct ones for the Courier Tim and i can't imagine them being different to the rear mech which is Accushift any way ..

The black Suntour powershift thumbies are what i had on my 88 Explorer so i new it wasn't them any way i'm 100% certain their correct mate ;) and i can't believe just how well the alloy looks now you've cleaned it up so have you being using the autosol again :)..

so any way i can't wait to see the wheels for this when you've sorted them as i think they were one of the 1st mtb wheels to have to really look smart on an mtb without looking to chunky imho ..

Ian

Spend sometime this morning getting this together. Wheels still need refurbing so no chain or cables on yet but very happy so far :)

Excuse the crap indoor pics.

Coool! , that's looking really smart now Tim and those pedals are one of my favs although i've been a fan of caged vp pedals ever since i bought the ol MuddyFox Explorer back in 89 and yep! i can't help drooling now i've seen the Fox at this stage   .

So mate have you cleaned the saddle with anything particular as it's looking pretty fresh compared to the original pics and if not maybe i'll try some leather cleaning wipes later on and see if the colour looks a little deeper .

I can't wait to see the wheels on but theses things can't be rushed and i've got some MuddyFox decals some where but not sure if their a proper match for the cross bar although i'm tempted to leave it as it is :? ..

Any how i'm well pleased seeing the progress you've made on this and pretty darn quick at that ;) ..

Just a bit of degreaser and hot water for the saddle, yes it's not perfect t but honest and no one can see it when your sat on it anyway. It's very comfortable too.

The pics don't do it justice, your going to love it.

Just out buying supplies to tackle the wheels :)

Woo Hoo!! you've confirmed just what i'd been saying to myself 8) and i remeber those saddles being very comfy and i just can't wait to being on one again after 26 years  ( yep! 26 of them ) and i'll be on the look out at a later date for another one of those saddles as i've got a good feeling this one will see alot of use ;) .

Thanks again mate and good luck with the shopping .

Ian

Started tackling the wheels yesterday afternoon, front wheel looking a lot better after lots of cleaning and polishing. Rear wheel still a mess.

Nice one Tim and that front wheel has come up a real treat so what on earth did you clean and polish erm! Polished rims  aint that :o but yes you've done a cracking job and have you dressed that tyre with the usual car dressing as i've only washed and scrubed bike tyres for fear of getting somthing unwanted on the braking surface and those tyres look ideal for canal paths and road use ..

So how are the bearings looking on the hubs mate as from what you have said so far they should be in excellent condition ..

Pic of wheel was taken when wet, no tyre dressing. The SS's are going into my pile for use on my Merlin when it goes on the roller, the bikes going to look great when you put tan walls on it Ian :)

Bearings were good so gave them a clean and regrease.

I used Autosol until that run out, then brasso. Rear wheels done now so just chain and cabling to do once I've sorted out that front shifter issue.
