1982 saracen / knights cycles road bike

found on fleabay while searching for a classic ride this i believe by dating the group set shimano altus LT A 1982/83 knights/saracen tourer, its in great condition and amber wall tyres are a plenty for its 27 inch wheels, almost nos condition :shock: £135

Hi I too have a Saracen road bike, and I'm very grateful to you for the link to information about Knight Cycles - I have wondered for ages who built these frames. I've seen a couple of rumours that Bob Jackson built them, but clearly not the case now.

I bought mine brand new in 1986 for £250 at Regent Cycles, Camden Town, London. It has a 25" seat tube, 23" top, with 531 forks and stays, 531c butted frame tubes, 73/73 degs., and serial number 00200. The head badge is slightly different to yours, it has 'SARACEN' on the banner. There are certainly very few about, yours is only the third I've seen, including a small black one that went through ebay recently.

The rest of the spec. is Suntour ARX gears, Stonglight cranks, GB bars and stem, Pelissier hubs, unknown rims with 'Wheel King' stickers, Weinmann Vainquer 750 brakes, Tange headset and FAG sealed bottom bracket which I have never had to touch.

It does ride very nicely - it is particularly secure on fast decents and is in regular use.
