The tubing is Columbus but interestingly not all Cinellis were. a handful were made with 531.
The donor bike, either ironically or fittingly, was a 1970 Windsor also known as "The Mexican Cinelli." it was perfect for the job because it had low miles and had not had anything changed over the years.
I dont have a pic of the poor thing other than this which I took beecause the previous owner never removed the bar tape before putting on new tape. There were like four layers.

yep, worked in the above shop from mid 70's to Sept 1978 when I left for university. Rode for Hull Thursday Road Club.
All I have is my memories and all the Super record mech's I remember had black anodising. I guess Velobase has a better memory than me.

As stated this is going to be a somewhat accelerated build thread as the bike restoration took place about 2-years-ago.
After stripping the bike and polishing the chrome up it looked very presentable so I decided to keep it original even though I would be getting professional painting. I selected a local framebuiler that does very low volume re-paints as a side business. This decision was not the best as they were accustomed to painting carbon and aluminum so the paint came back way too thick. Fortunately they were very understanding and did the job again and all it cost me was a duplicate set of decals.
The final result was, and is, stunning.
As a side note I had intended to meticulously repaint the brass head badge but after i cleaned it up a bit my wife thought it was so beautiful that the refinish was abandoned.
