16" Offroad 550 frame/forks & U.S.E. seatpost etc

proflex 550

I haven't had any dealings with a Proflex before but are their 16" a big 16" - if you know what I mean??!! :? :)
I'm trying to picture it built up and in my mind it looks larger than the 16" suggests.
I'm 5' 10" and don't want to be hitting my elbows with my knees!! any thoughts??

Hey Russell,

to be honest I'm not sure I'm afraid - I think the elastomers are quite solid as I haven't ridden the bike for a while but when I rode it last I had tried the old 'heat the elastomer a little in warm water' trick and they were quite soft then. As far as travel goes though... um an inch or two?? I really don't know what the spec is - I'll see if I can find out for you by asking around at idriders.com

Rascal - I haven't actually measured the frame but was informed it was 16" due to the shape. I'm 6'1"+ and was able to ride it without too much problem but then I prefer smaller bikes. I'll take top tube+seat tube measurements for you but think at 5'10" you'll be fine!

Hope that helps - I'll post the info promised as soon as I know :)

Ok not had a chance to measure the frame just yet but I've been told the travel is 1-1/4" at the wheel with the possibility to increase that to 2" with a different elastomer I think!

Sorry I'm not more definite but hope that's helpful :)

Hey peoples,

Wow - I'm so sorry for leaving it this long before posting the info regarding the frame measurements!

What keeps happening is I'll measure the frame when I do go down to my shed and then completely forget what size it was by the time I get to my computer - life is hectic right now with a thousand and one things I need to Think about!

It doesn't help that the only ruler I have down there is a really old folding one and in mm only! From what I can remember it's 16" (410mm) center BB to center TT and 20" (510mm) center BB to top of seat tube. The top tube length is the one I'm not sure about but think it's 21.5" (545mm)

After this amout of time I hope this is useful but sorry again for taking so long!
