These things often happen so quickly. One moment you're flying along, next moment you're lying on your back wondering what just happened. Myself and the bike ended up quite far apart so I think it must have flown through the air and hit either a rock or a tree.

I'm glad, that you're OK. a new bike or frame can be bought anytime. (though for buying new you should not have to destroy the old one, you know!

Some minor tributes to a couple of the town's famous sons passed on today's ride. Some road names on a newish housing development and a laser cut steel portrait in a distant corner of the park. How it's escaped the attention of angle grinding scrap collectors I don't know. The amp is a Vox which also originated in the town.

Nice spring day: sunny, cool wind. Did my usual lunchtime 1-hour circuit incorporating gravel roads and rough forestry tracks. Due to recent rain it was pretty gloopy in the shade, while the sun had dried out the more exposed spots. Bit of variety never hurts . . .
Found myself behind a large group of a dozen or more kangaroos fleeing through the bush -- tried to whip out my phone, select 'video' and capture them without stopping, and succeeded in recording twenty seconds of my front wheel skittering over stony ground to a soundtrack of me panting loudly.
Home just within the hour. 21km, about 270m climbing. My Garmin even recorded three modest jumps.

Except for some traffic it was a very nice short 7 miles this morning, wasn't on the road sections for long at least and blasting down very narrow country lanes with very wide cars while going over 30mph really wakes you up.
Took it very easy on the climbs and enjoyed it I think slow climbs (it is all bloomin climbs around here) is the key to a pleasant ride, hate being knackered and just reaching the top feels like achievement enough, sod the bloomin times. I stopped for a few pictures anyway too.
