Today's Ride

Fairplay anyone who got out in today’s heat! Risked it earlier, got 20 mins in and had already went through a 750ml bottle - 25c and humid headwinds are not a good combo. 4:45AM alarm for tomorrow, hopefully get some good miles in although it's meant to be 20c at 6am!
Over the ride I just worked out I had just under 2 1/2 litres plus a coffee then another litre when I got home. Thirsty work!

Wow! .. i woke up with a mild hangover (i had the day off obvs 😁) .. i had some Nurofen then i dank a fancy coffee, 500ml of water, ate scrambled eggs on toast with a vanilla tea, drank 250ml of Liptons Peach Ice-Tea, ate a Nobbly-Bobbly and i only took 500ml of water which i re-filled halfway around at the Adventure Cafe.. Oh and a can of Ting.. i was out from 11.30am till 5.15pm 😁

Temps varied, it was close to 30° when i set off but cloudy.. it's always fresher, breezier. cooler at the top of th Peaks.. then it's like a hairdryer as you descend..

Stronger man than I am! My route was mostly going west then returning the same way whereas the winds were going northerly so got battered by humid crosswinds for the majority of it. First 5 miles were a slow climb and went through a 750ml bottle just getting through that, second 750ml went within another 15/20 mins - terrain isn't too bad here but certainly a lot of short sharp/punchy climbs which definitely didn't help nor does the urge to sprint so I can stay at 30mph 😂 Bought a 2l bottle from Tesco, refilled both and finished the bottle then got through nearly both of them on the way back after trying to catch up with a guy on a 10% gradient hill who got a good 15s head start due to traffic lights (very bad idea), 3.5l and 3 gels for a 1h20 ride! Probably close to 6l total today, racehorse springs to mind.

all black kit may not have been the greatest idea either 🤦‍♂️

Final day of so-called week off and thought I'd take the train to Edale for a trip out. Absolutely beautiful part of the country and a chance to test the Lightning
I had a great day but taking a 90's hardtail down Jacob's Ladder on 1.95's is definitely taking a knife to a sword fight😊

Oh, mos def.. I've seen plenty of folks fly down Jacobs on modern full sus while hiking with my kid.. only to pass them 20mins later, bike upside down, innertubes out 😁

I swore I'd keep this thing on pavement from now on, but when I see trails, he makes me take them. I can't stop him. Found a gorgeous spot to relax a minute 20250620_133538~2.webp 20250620_133828.webp Purple clover, snapdragon, yellow finch, and thou...

Bad planning, headwinds on the second half, but the first half was so fast and easy!

4:45AM alarm got promptly snoozed, and snoozed again, and again until about 6. Was definitely still cool enough for a good ride at that time, roads pretty quiet aside from the significant amount of other cyclists with the same idea of getting out early. Barely got through 750ml today, stark change from yesterday. Best you're getting photo wise is skewed horizon roads though 😂

You need to lever off those pedal reflectors @MattiThundrrr

I appreciate they offer a higher level of visibility / safety .. but this can't be high on your list of concerns.. you haven't even got any brakes!

😁

you haven't even got any brakes
No, it has a coaster, the stoutest of all. If you need the power of 2 brakes, just lean harder on the pedals. Trust me, there's plenty of weight on board to back it up.
As for the pedals, they were NOS until a couple months ago, haven't had the urge or inclination to pop em off yet 20250412_161622.webp
