Can you help me identify this Bianchi please?

Retro Newbie
Hi - first time poster (thanks to my buddy for recommending this site).
I picked up a Bianchi racing bike and I'm trying to find out what model it is, year it was made etc. I've looked on the forums and there seem to be so many choices.
Serial number is 592981, there's a sticker with "Tubi Bianchi Calibrati 1-20" on and it's a Celeste colour.
Google lens suggested "Nuovo, 1980s"
Any help/points in the right direction much appreciated.
Cheers.

Welcome, @frographer !
The start of something hopefully.

Bianchi knocked out quite a few of these basic models, a good seller, but near bottom of the range.
Late 80s

Look at the Caurus 837 here:

https://www.retrobike.co.uk/attachments/bianchi-puch-legnano-nth-c-1988-compressed-pdf.610269/

It's not identical, but we are close.

a lot of the "proper" bianchi catalogues ignore these workaday models.
I'm not sure whether the frame is "hearth built" or even outsourced- hopefully a marque enthusiast can clarify, and fill in details

They are popular, lovely paint colour.
We've had a few over the years.
They must've sold thousands, but have lasted ok - perhaps just having the Celeste blue colour and Bianchi name was enough to save them from first the garden and then the tip.

That's great, thanks =)

Yes, the colour is lovely. Just planning on what I'm going to do with it. First job is sorting the frame out and tidying it up.

These are nice, entry level classics. Raleigh did the same with their Team replicas in 18-20 tubing, mid range Bianchis are probably over priced, so if you paid low money for this, you've done well.
