1908 Touring Club Iitaliano, Bianchi Cover Redrawn

I found a low res photo so thought I'd redraw it, just because.

26" ride on a roadie ride?

I used to only do road and used to road race so it's an observation, but that what happens when you presume to know someone when you don't.

26" ride on a roadie ride?

( and some ride equally well (or badly!) on both. It has changed somewhat but I think in two opposite directions. There are more people who just ride (like the old days) don’t care how fast or far, not pressured by marketing etc. Then there’s the road side who often seem to be obsessed by...

26" ride on a roadie ride?

No e-bikes fair enough, not that any have that range anyway. You can also understand no tri bars. However other than why would there be any other restrictions? A 26er is a no go but if you’ve 27.5 or 29 then that’s fine. It sounds like a typical bunch of roadies and you are better off without...

Retro frame + new components.. yes or no?

As are people who make a dogs dinner out of a period correct build. As an example with anodising being big back in the day that takes more thought than plain silver. Whilst the only person you should be building for is you sometimes less is more. Anyway that sounded more like your opinion on...

Retro frame + new components.. yes or no?

There are quite a lot of retromod bikes on here even more if you count ones that are retro but not totally period correct. But that can be a problem with sites like this, building for approval rather than what works for you. It’s not a priceless work of art it’s just a bike and it’s reversible...

    English Roadster, Educate Me Please

Yeah I sort of decided that's what they were trying to say without actually saying it. Which one did have the nicer lug work, can't tell from the catalog illustrations? Lenton with cutaway lugs?

    English Roadster, Educate Me Please

Thank you for the the info you two! Thinking about terrain etc a clubman style might be a better bet. Reading up on the Rudge Pathfinder at the moment and also trying to work out if the Lenton Sports was basically the same or different beast, the article I'm reading is a bit unclear. The...

    English Roadster, Educate Me Please

Thanks. I did read about the recommended minimum gearing, good to know it easy to go lower if need be though. It would be used for light offroad, cycle paths/routes, tame bridleways but 1 1/2” tyres should be fine for that. Back then they must have been used for everything. By the looks of them...

    English Roadster, Educate Me Please

That’s a really impressive weight even if it is for single speed by the looks of it. Even the tourer is pretty good, I presume with at least the rims being steel given the weight difference. Just looked on ebay, a time warp ‘47 apparently sold for £3650. A bit more than I’d be planning to spend!

    English Roadster, Educate Me Please

Thank you Johnny. Oh, I was under the impression what someone termed “light” roadsters tended to be 26” and full on roadsters were 28”. Not sure that would make a whole lot of difference either way though. That’s a decent weight wheeler, add some carbon and it’s ready to race lol. I remember...

    27.5 has surprised me.

They definitely are available but with pretty much everything going disc they're not exactly plentiful. SJS list just 7 but prices aren't anything out of the ordinary. Whether those are nice rims is a different thing, no idea. https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/rims-650b-275-584/?type=rim+brake

    27.5 has surprised me.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both 27.5 and 29, depends how and where you ride. I generally prefer 27.5 for what I do, everything around here's pretty tame, lighter so accelerate more quickly and more nimble. Having said that my 700c gravel bike aka 29er is fine too for where I live...

    English Roadster, Educate Me Please

Not really what I had been meaning. For one it’s a one off so no point of looking even if it was. Even if it wasn't then the geometry looks too steep, might be wrong, and not enough clearance for big'ish tyres? But thank you for posting. Hi peachy, a traditional roadster, old, really slack...

Is the price of parts putting you off?

    No you don't.
