Can steerer tube be made longer?

I've messaged Danson, thanks. What did you find difficult with the homemade press and extractor?

Can steerer tube be made longer?

Ok, next idea. My friend suggested this and I fail to understand why it won't be suitable considering that it goes down the tube by 43mm and tightens at 360⁰. Thoughts please...

Can steerer tube be made longer?

I know, but for my size bike I would need a 250mm steerer which is very uncommon. That's why I was looking for a solution to use this SID which is in very good conditions.

Can steerer tube be made longer?

Ok, I measured the steerer walls and they're indeed too thin to be threaded. So, next idea... As far as some posters said, the steerer tube is pressed in the fork. Anyone tried removing it with a thick threaded rod and steel tube (M20 I'm thinking as internal diameter is 22mm) and then press a...

Can steerer tube be made longer?

Hi everyone, back from a trip to Italy, I was talking to my cousin, a keen road cyclist, and he said they extend steerer tubes all the time by threading them. He drew this for me... He said that once tightened with red thread lock, it never comes out again. Steel steerers can also be welded...

    New build: Scapin TR-X 1997

Update: I fitted my favourite panaracer tyres and went for a proper ride today. This bike is absolutely amazing. The frame flexes on rough terrain and bends and it feels like I have rear suspensions. Also, this fork is great, same level as my bomber on my other scapin but somehow it cancels the...

Ok, I fitted a different middle cog and the problem has totally disappeared. Perfect smooth shifting and zero noise. I used a Truvativ I had in my stash of parts, I might wear this out a bit, then change all chainrings. The problem chainring is well worn, very noticeable once unfitted.
