And humanity will rise up and begin the fight back, on their 1960's racing bikes. edit, think they made a movie, Mad Bert or something.

The shape of things to come....

I've been fairly lucky. 4 years back I needed some ball bearings to redo the bottom bracket on a 1982 Holdsworth. Tried some bike shops in Putney - first 2 didn't sell ball bearings. I now know better and get G25 ball bearings online, but if a shop doesn't sell ball bearings go somewhere else...

    1953 Holdsworth Whirlwind

The 1957 Cyclo Benelux mark 8 Tourist was available in 3, 4 or 5 speed and had a wrap of 35 and max cog 28. Really quite impressive for the time. I actually got it to work with a 32 cog but decided to stay within spec for the moment. The 5 speed shifts the pulley 23.8mm so it only just handles...

Hiya Folks, I promised to post some info on this, and I've just done the photo shoot. Got if off Ebay last October as my state retirement present. It's 23" with original paint which turns out to be cromovelato magenta, but the chrome is a bit missing and a bit rusty. I repainted it with fake...

    Unknown Roberts- Tip find

Just going to suggest SunTour Power Shifter band-on down tube shifters. Available on Ebay for around £20-30. Also in all chrome if you wait for a bit. Possibly the best friction shifters ever made, and work fine with SunTour Cyclone GT rear deraileur. I can friction shift 8 speed with that...

    Chainsets for old legs

I'm running Stronglight 49D 52/36 on the front on a Tange Seiki LN-3922 square taper spindle. SunTour New Winner ultra-6 13-15-17-19-24-32 on the back - in 120 dropout. SunTour Cyclone derailleurs front and back, GT on the back for 35 wrap. Stronglight 49D is a very good 5 pin and the rings are...
