the New Buzzword is 13spd cassettes, oh i can't wait for 14 spd cassettes. 8spd cassettes were cool, 9spd not so much ad infinitum.........

I've only used tubular for the last 3 years: Vittoria Rubino 28mm with Orange Seal. Only 3 flats 1) Before I discovered sealant 2+3) You're supposed to top up sealant, but 1oz did last a year. So basically no flats that weren't my fault, riding in London.

    Vittoria Tubular Tyres

Morning Folks, I discovered tubular tyres 3 years back when I bought a 1982 Holdsworth Avanti with Mavic Monthlery Route rims on it. Tried some very cheap Tufo S3 and they were horrible, then tried Vittoria Rubino and I loved them. So I've been using Vittoria Rubino 28mm for the last 3 years -...

    Mystery Mercian

If you're talking New Winner it's one body for 5 / 6 / ultra 6 / ultra 7. But some of the cogs are different - generaly the smallest 1 or 2. But Ultra 6 and Ultra 7 have the same spacers. If you look closely it's all explained on the bottom row of that chart. Also note "teeth mark must face...

    Mystery Mercian

I'm running SunTour New Winner Ultra 6 on a 1961 Holdsworth Cyclone (121mm dropout). SunTour Cyclone II GT + 13-15-17-19-24-32 on the back / SunTour Cyclone I + TA 52/36 + Stronglight 49D on the front It works damn fine. I got the parts on Ebay - 2 or 3 freewheels at about £10-20 a go. The New...

Where can I get Mafac straddle cables?

You could always try french Ebay or similar. I got some Mafac Racer (long) from somewhere mid-south of France and they were reasonably priced even with post. Communication was minimal though - they may well not speak english. A quick search: https://www.ebay.fr/itm/364898502983 13.2 euro but...

Where can I get Mafac straddle cables?

This looks like the right set: https://www.ebay.com/itm/315085607348 But way too much money: reduced from $150 lol.

Where can I get Mafac straddle cables?

If it's Mafac racer style I just got a cheap shift cable and cut it to length. One of the Mafac centre pulls has fixed length stradle cables - 'competition' I think.

Hadn't heard of 'maes stratalite', I presumed 'maes' was something to do with GB, but nope it's Strata: https://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/classic_components/the-strata-engineering-company/ Which was around at about the same time. Apparently (Ebay) maes stratalite was about 37cm ctc (14.6")...

    Campagnolo derailleur jockey wheel compatibility

I replaced the jockey wheels on my SunTour Cyclone II a couple of years back (10 teeth) - I run them on 2x7 and 2x6 at the moment. Here's my original thread: https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage/1255815-suntour-jockey-wheel-upgrade-bbb-rollerboys-bdp-01-a.html I did have to add a couple of...

    The British bike thread

Crossposting from Bikeforums.net because it's a nice article. Helped me out a bit when I was trying to create Holdsworth Red Pearl for my 1961 Cyclone. Also asked Mario Vaz - he said Red Pearl arrived in huge drums from Switzerland, so no idea how to mix it :(. A Visit to Holdsworthy Ltd...
