I am leaning towards a titanium frame, plus it's dry here and I haven't ridden in the rain for years, so not worried about corrosion! I do like the clean look, and the option of going electronic without leaving unused bosses on the frame, no plans for that but the way things are heading there...

This would be a for a good weather road bike, so I'm not worried about dirt, only increased friction due to the extra outer and probably a few more curves if routed internally. Sounds like it's probably not going to be an issue though

There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer to this one! I dropped by my trusted LBS yesterday, and his reply was a definite "full cable outers are better, even over traditional exposed inner cables routed externally, and definitely better than inner cables router internally without outers"

Yes, I'm not daft enough to try mechanical shifting through the bars and stem... Would be exposed cables to the HT or DT then fully internal from there. There seem to be a lot of frames with this arrangement

I think modern outers are less compressible than older types, but even so there might be some difference between them and a fully exposed cable?

Quite a few modern steel/alu/ti frames seem to have internal gear cabling from just behind the head tube to just before the dropout. I imagine this requires a full outer cable all the way from the levers to the mech. Does anyone find this gives any problems, or worse shifting than an almost...

30mm tyres will be plenty for me! And I am definitely looking for a road frame, possibly more on the endurance side rather than full on pro racing position, no mudguard eyelets, rack bosses, etc.

I don't need disc brakes and have plenty of rim brake parts, so am sticking with them. I have been riding the 00's Time Edge I got a year and a half ago, and it's a great bike but it's not as nice to ride as my 2006 pinarello paris carbon. But I don't think I'm as comfortable on either of them...

these are bonkers! just proves yet again that what is new, isn't - although these aren't so much adjustable length as "length all over the place all the time" 🤣 I wonder what they feel like to ride?
