That's a bold statement. They do work well though and are a masterpiece of intricate engineering.
I can't honestly say mine works better than the Campag Record OR I regularly use, and many folk would say the Campag lags behind a Shimano or Suntour....?
Because it's basically a copy of a primitive much earlier Suntour mech; no sprung top pivot, outdated geometry etc.
Shimano had pretty much sussed the art/science of good shifting by the mid 80's and even Campag had caught on by the time the Paul was released.

They were originally purchased from the Breezer distributer in the mid 90s. Never determined manufacturer but assumed U.S. made.
I did about 10 miles only on the road with these from new, so as Steve's never fitted them they've hardly been used. 😎
