Help in identifying an Orange Formula

Re: I am taking back to the shop today, it’s rideable but going to try and get some answers from the owner and see if they will let me do a proper restoration job on it. I really want to strip it to check the condition of the tubing, some of it is v suspect.

Help in identifying an Orange Formula

Re: Thank you so much for that emjay! I suspect it is a prestige, I have had one before and the tubing looks and sounds the same. It also has a super short head tube. I do some repairs for the local bike shop and this is just someone has pulled out of the shed and wants making rideable...

Help in identifying an Orange Formula

I have had a look and I am not sure if it is a genuine formula. Looks more like a prestige. The serial starts A891 which is confusing as I thought it was year then month, unless this means January 1989. Any frame number experts on here?

Help in identifying an Orange Formula

I have come across a bike which I suspect is a an Orange Formula, anyone got any tell tale signs that it’s actually a formula. I have heard they are quite rare, any truth to this?

Ok, so I started working on the bike in this post: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=381935 It is a what looks like 90-91 Prestige, full XT. I have decided that there is simply not enough room in my life/garage for it, so I am selling it on as a project. The frame was pretty rusty, so I have stripped it...

Re: I am stripping it slowly by hand, it is getting powder coated by a reputable company who have done frames before. Will let them know to treat it will kid gloves!

Ok, brill thanks for all the help and links to the catalogue. So we are looking 92 then. Frame is very rusty in some places and was pretty bad under some of the decals, so the paint is slowly coming off. I have had to sand away a lot of rust as I thought there was a hairline crack at one...
