Today's Ride

21.5 miles this morning, mostly road/paved but a bit offroad to test out the gravel kings.

Pretty speedy tyre by all accounts though I suspect jumping to a 46t also helped out. No problem spinning a good 27ish mph on the flats, offroad pace was pretty nippy too with good grip on the gravel. Nice sidewall colour and not as common as Billy Bonkers although you're certainly paying for that privilege at £100 a set

My most recent "ride" was a "float"
Up by dawn, and the lake was like glass. Still wearing my pajamas, just had to get out there. Kingfishers, loons, bald eagle were my only companions, was out for 2 hours, never saw another boat.
and back to the pad in time for a fresh cuppa. I could start every day like this

An hour and a half ride on local trails and gravel on my new Marin, an '08 Pine Mountain. It is very fast on any surface.

Two views, one spot. Turn round and the enormous Hindlow quarries appear / disappear. 7 miles ride around the perimeter. It has its own railway including tunnel. Surely visible from the Moon.

ohh, one of my 'dreams' is to try out kayaking. jealous, to say the least! TBH I am a bit afraid that I may like it too much and it could became another obsession of mine.

anyhow, random pics from this past week spent with family at the 'mountain house', a few rides were taken with my wife, friend and daughter and solo.

I had quite a scenic journey earlier, but was carrying a ton and phone was packed away until my wee shop visit. Luckily, you can sit by the gas station next to the A9 and catch a view of tonnes of people joining or just off the NC500.


Very, very friendly people too.
