98+ BoTM is back for August with a bit more of a relaxed theme: Any mtb is eligible, 98 to present, as long as it has not already been entered this year or previously won.

I deleted my thread on this because I posted too many pictures of the inside of my house but here you go.

2006 Morewood Shova ST





I hand painted the frame myself, you can see the components, it rips.
Heres the full rundown inside this spoiler since i deleted the thread:

Spoiler: the worlds gayest morewood shova

The frame is a 2006 Morewood Shova ST that came with no decals and damaged paint, so the entire frame was taken apart and painted with bootleg posca markers and dollar store brand clear coat, its alright.
Suspension is a Manitou Swinger SPV 4 way in the rear, 7.875x2", and a Marzocchi Drop Off Triple 170 in the front, freshy serviced
Stem is an old Answer direct mount option at 45mm with some janky inverse mounting hardware since this fork doesnt work with regular direct mount stems.
Bars and grips are Deity 760's with a 50mm rise and DMR Death Grips
Brakes front and rear are 203/180 shimano rotors with Deore XT 4 pistons on them
Drivetrain is Shimano Zee 1x10 on a sunrace 11-42 cassette, black ops 32t crankset and crankbrothers stamp 1 gen 2's in large, KMC X10 chain
Wheelset is some oldschool Hadley pair 135qr in the rear and 110x20 in the front, laced to Spank spike race 33's with dtswiss champion spokes, set up tubeless with maxxis DHF/DHRII's
Seatpost is an old 28.6 post moderne with a WTB saddle and salsa seatpost clamp, headset is a cane creek 40

I love the look of this bike and enjoyed seeing the build process. I can’t imagine the time it must have taken to get that frame to look so cool.

I got the frame directly from Brooklyn Machine Works in Powers St in 2009 when I visited NYC for the first time right after graduating to spoil myself a bit. In the two or three years to follow I managed to get some first gen BMW components and other stuff which is super hard to find now, but then life happened and everything started to collect dust. Fast forward to 2024 when my fiancée picked up the idea to finally finish the build (guess she was annoyed of only the frame standing around in the flat). After countless nights and cigarette brakes spent on ebay, pinkbike, facebook, RetroBike...
