Just picked up this Dawes Galaxy Tour, extras thrown in 200 quid :-)

Totally agree, I had one bike with hydro discs, just couldnt see any advantages at all, and V brakes cost almost nothing to buy too, the Discs didnt work any better, cantis look great too
Last was a specialized crux with 11 speed 105 hydro. My wife was shocked at the fact they clogged so easily and the noise was horrendous.

Ha sounds like my experience, my biggest ever waste of money (dont know what possessed me) was a Specialized Creo E-road bike with 1x11 and shimano GRX hydro discs, not only was the bike utterly pointless as I found I was faster on a proper bike, but the disc brakes were a total PITA and required constant fiddling. Fortunately I bought it for half its original price as the new model was out and sold it after 6 months while it still had warranty because I dont think they are really repairable although at a loss, but that put me off discs forever and I am back to proper old school bikes like the Galaxy and that Carrera conversion is way way better in any case

Out now will post later thanks

I love this new bike, it must be just about as good as conventional steel framed tourers reached. 9x3 speed shimano 105 shifters, silky smooth changing and super comfortable, I like the bars quite high now, it doesnt look as cool but it means I use the drops, and that spring saddle might look a bit lame but its great, just did my first proper ride to Lichfield, 30 mile round trip and loved it. 4.webp
