dating note -

wheel rims appear they may be RIGIDA SUPERCHROMIX

if this is the case they may exhibit a date inside a small diamond symbol near the name as here:

Rigida rim date marking .webp

the cycle's Huret Svelto gear mech will express a date marking in the form of a four digit number, a practice which commenced in 1978

it is relatively late production as the Svelto launched in 1962 and this black trim edition did not launch until the late seventies

the first two numerals of the marking indicate the the week of the year and the second two the year as in this example:

Huret date code example .webp

the wheel hubs do not appear to be a matched set. the rear midflange looks as though it may be a WECO.

the model of reflectorized UNION pedals worn by the cycle one which did not launch until the later seventies.

Wow. Thanks. You've spotted things from a few poor pictures that I hadn't noticed standing in front of the bike! I'll try and get it up on the stand today for a better assessment.

Fair to say there have been many changes over its lifetime, in common with most bikes of its vintage.

one simple check you could make would be to measure saddle pillar diameter

a size of ~26.2/26.4 would be suggestive that the frame's three main tubes are 531 plain gauge

a smaller diameter would be suggestive of hi-tensile tubing
