Raleigh Record Ace model 26 frame number help

Without doubt? If you say so, perhaps you would like to explain why you are convinced it is a RRA and not a Moderne?

Because I have 5 RRAs :- 3 of them are Model 26, 1 is an ex-Cliff Smith RRA race bike year unconfirmed and 1 is a 1973 ex-Raleigh directors bike stamped with his initials and date of manufacture.
All have the RRA "diamond and fishtail" lug design which was unique to the RRA.
What about the Lentons you may ask? Well, they used the same lug design but the headtube lugs had triangular cut-outs in them - which the RRA never had.
The Record Ace modern was a completely different lug design.

Succinct and accurate. I was working on both the Model 26 and the Moderne frames today. I know it’s easy when you have both in front of you but they are very different.
Do you have a source for the Moderne decals? HLloyd has some but I can’t seem to find the seat tube decals. Cheers , Mike

The Moderne is a bit rough - I’m doing some framework before it goes for paint but here are some pics I have in an album.
as you can see - it’s v different

I like that, I've got a 55 Super Lenton in bits at the moment, needs quite a bit of work and a repaint so it's a long term project, original but a total wreck when I got it but all it cost me was a straight swap for a Raleigh Shopper!

I feel your pain it was a similar thing with the Moderne. Def won’t say how much I paid for it But one of my best deals was this SBDU track bike. Found as this powder coated “ MTB” , by the time I sold all the MTB bits and the nice but wrong Sugino chainset , it was as if someone had given me an SBDU frame for free and £125 to go towards the restoration .
if only it happened like that all the time!!

Thanks - as you can see , it wasn’t when I started Just nice that it survived - loads of track bikes didn’t I had no other option than a full restoration for obvious reasons
