Trp Spykes vs bb7

Where did you find them?

They were out of stock everywhere for ages, got mine from a Belgium bike shop via Ebay.

Hope they work out good for you.

Bike24 had the calipers. Not cheap though, 70 euro a piece. Hoping they'll work with the 160mm rotors that are already on there until I find some good rotors. Will be using them with my beloved Chinese takeaway litepro levers. Knock off kcnc

I tried them, they were ok, I also tried the clarke knock off, they were ok but a bit more faff. I then bought the zoom cable of hydrualic units. they pooped on both of them. :)

you'll be good with the TRP, they are fine and pretty easy to set up and run.

Glad to hear. I did see the Clarke stuff on a Danish suppliers site, but there were incredibly mixed opinions. Will have to report back to you all when they arrive tomorrow and I finally manage to start the hydraulic purge.

I've got the BB7 with SD7 levers to fit this week but will be keeping a pair of Hope Mini's in reserve in case they don't work out. Been contemplating them for a few years. Been in use by some hardcore bikepackers I've followed in the past on long-term, remote trips in far flung corners of the world & seemed to be well regarded & an old fella who came into the bike shop I used to work in used them on the same version of P7 as my rig - he'd been all over Asia & South America on that bike in the last 20 years. My bikepacking trips are nothing by comparison but still thought I'd give them a go.

Keep me posted on how they're treating ye

When you fit the spykes make sure you pay attention to the angle the actuating arm needs to be at otherwise they won't work as well as they should.

I just popped them on without thinking. How does one account for the angle? I just popped them on so they didn't rub, although the front one rubs like hell so I will have to tend to that

Still need to get some zip ties before I can set the wire and housing up as I forgot this bike doesn't have old school, correct cable stop thingies. Its got the c clip abomination
