1988 Raleigh Mirage

This mirage was one of my favourite bikes in 3A's window in York... Jazzy decals and derailleurs that had a metallic colour on them..... I don't know why but always liked the trail font....

And It was a posh bike for some of us in 88.....
Aye it's still proper posh now.
The graphics are so late 80's, and indeed are very jazzy.

I'm really going to enjoy getting this bike back to former glory. 😁

It's only when I'd taken this picture... IMG_20220513_194244_187.jpg I realised it may be taken in the wrong way!!

My ocd twitch has now been sorted, out with the silver in with the black.
Still not got the bike, although it should be winging its way from the north in a few weeks.

Another quality item. 😁

Wow, this brings back very fond memories.

Back in 88/89 you were a serious player at our school if you had a Mirage!! The masses had to make do with Marauders and the other base models.

I got a second hand 89 Mirage in 93 for peanuts. It was in decent nick and I used it as my daily bike (meaning I could keep my Cinder Cone for off-road rides). The paint was scratched so I resprayed it with silver hammerite and fitted some of the components (including the wheels) from my Kona that i had upgraded.
That Mirage was a fantastic bike. It rode well and I could leave it anywhere without worrying about it getting nicked. One of my favourite bikes that I have owned.
