My official “Barn Find” – a 1994 Specialized Stumpjumper

First time I can honestly use the term “barn find”. I visited a farmhouse in South Cumbria to collect a road bike which was being offered for free collection and got chatting with the owner. I mentioned my fetish for restoring 90s mountain bikes and he wheeled this dusty beast out of a barn and gave it to me for free, what a gent! It has had a hard life.

Structually it is sound but the paintwork its very poor, its beyond the ‘patina’ stage. Some thoroughly siezed M737 pedals and some tired X-lite bar ends as well. The highlight though are the minimally worn PACE extruder groove chainrings which are to be hived off for an RC200 build I have planned.

Its a long shot but does anyone know the paint code or RAL Code for the green paint or the red alternative that was also offered in the 1994 catalaogue?

Cool. I remember that saddle - gave me no end of pain. I replaced it with something - probably a Vetta. They fitted my arse well. Man I miss Vetta saddles.
