Raleigh Dyna Tech appreciation and information thread

This one doesn’t either (post#6)

Forgot to post this up recently. Don't panic it's not a team bike...I decided to respray my MT4 as a tribute! Nearly there, just a few more bits to do but really pleased so far with how it's turned out!
That’s stunning -

Good day Raleigh Dyna Tech friends,

this is my first post - thanks for having me here.

Recently I was offered a Raleigh Dyna Tech MTB with the model name XC60. I found a catalogue scan, naming a frame material called "Dual Technology Titanium CroMo Composite".

My question is, what does that mean? I suppose that the main tubes are not made of titanium, because then the designation of the frame material would be probably something like "Titanium Main Tubes" as seen on the page of the model "Ogre" in the same catalogue.

So what is the mysterious "Dual Technology Titanium CroMo Composite" really about?

Thanks a lot for your help and best regards
Julius

Wow this might be the place to get more info on my Raleigh Alien, it's a late 80s Nottingham bike with the Worsop serial number. I am not a bike guy, I've learned a little bit here and there. This is a special production bike built after derby internal aquired the nishiki brand. From what I've read, there were quite a few special production bikes made after the closure of the Nottingham location and the birth of Special Products Division.
I'll appreciate any additional information anyone can provide.

Hi Julius,
My suspicion would be that the one you are looking at would have cro-mo steel forks and rear triangle with the 3 main frame tubes being titanium.
What part of the world are you in?
Rich.

@averagebiker

Hi Rich and thanks a lot for your opinion. I am located in Germany.

That was my assumption, too. But, as I had mentioned, I'm a bit confused, because of the different nomenclature considering the Ogre and the XC60. So the main difference between the Ogre and the XC60 frame would be the chainstays....?

Best
Julius

First things first the XC60 is not an mtb, it is a hybrid bike with 700c wheels. So the geometry and intended use is different.

I suspect the tubes are of a different diameter and maybe only 1 or 2 in the main triangle of XC60 are ti??

Maybe there is more information available in the test if the catalog?

Anyway, if you want a hybrid style bike ok, if you want an MTB it isn't one
Cheers Rich
