1998 Kona Hei Hei

Sweet looking build. How long is the steerer on those Mag Ti's? I might be interested if you were OK letting them go, I'm building up a '95 Hei Hei at the moment, but I need something with a long steerer as it's a 20" frame!

:D

What headset are you going to use?

I have a Bomber Z2 and a newer F80RLT, will see which one's got a long enough steerer when my headset shows up.

Lovely frame. Such jealousy. Many wants.
My first thought was that the mag needs to be saved for a period correct frame. Not this Hei Hei. He too new.
There's nothing wrong with tanwalls on it either (imo). Especially coz if you run that setup, then we'll be Splashback/Sunset buddies

Sorry I have no plans to let the Rockshox go, they cost a fortune in this condition and hard to find. They will be used soon.

Unfortunately the splashback tyres are sold, so I'm looking out for a replacement already. Glad you like it, the general consensus is that the forks are better suited on a period correct frame. And I agree they are,I just love the look though 😎

That's a lovely frame! On the fork front, if it won't be ridden hard, I'd be tempted to look out for a black Project 2. Keeps it light and simple, with the classic Kona look.

I seen some ti coloured P2 forks for sale on here recently. Think they came on 95/96 konas. But black would work with the black stem/seatpost and bar.

Yeah, not mine, just a Google pic. Not sure on year exactly, but Kona switched to threadless headsets in 97 and the 98 range were all fitted with suspension forks. Although the Project 2 was still sold after market, in both threaded and threadless versions, usually in black.
