Cantilever or V ?

Sithlord

Old School Grand Master
Hi guys ,

Need some help from the collective.. I recently bought these and thought they were for V's, however,, I recently fitted them and they seem really spongy.. anyone confirm if they are V or indeed as I'm thinking canti..

Also a correct model name would be ace too :)

Cheers

TIA

SD ultimates.

Take a pic of the part that holds the cable (with lever open) and it will be clearer whether those are canti or V.

by the way, if they are canti and you don't want them can I have dibs?

I have a set of those. Ultimates like Sancho said.

Funny thing: I used them with an Avid Arch Supreme up front and a Avid canti in the rear. Worked fine for both. It's a great lever.

According to the text on one of my ultimate boxes, the v-brake version should be used only with v-brakes, but as has been pointed out, some people have no problems using them with either v or canti.

I pm'ed you a link with more information about the difference between the two.

Thanks guys appreciated.. I've tried adjusting the 'speed dial' and they dont seem to improve the 'mushey' feeling... must be a canti version.

I'll have a look through the link sancho :) cheers.. :)

Some had V chip conversion although I don't know how or where...so I'm about as useful as a spare **** in a ****-****
Does that help any.

researched these a while ago… later models have "v-chip" for v-brakes. you could also get the upgrade part directly from Avid at the time to modify existing units.

never found a set, and i only got a set without. ended up using Problem Solver travel-agents to get my set to work with V's on the Cirrus.

here are a couple of pics of the part in question i collected at the time while researching. ;) not really sure how that little added piece of metal increased the pull. i've read that it didn't improve the feel a whole lot.
