I'd have thought that '006 was closer to the later ones.
Are you sure that suits the earlier ones better? Its difficut for me to tell since stripping the frame.

its interesting that you're going darker - I was torn between 01 and 05 but from memory they were darker than one would expect.

Are you going for the original Zolatone paint texture or just a coloured painted finish?
