Could you tell me what size cassette the Nuke proof hub will take (7,8,9)?

The Nuke Proof takes 7, 8 and 9 speed. Turn it arround, all 7, 8 and 9 speed cassettes have the same space/width.

Not true. 8 and 9 are the same overall width (with 9 speed having narrower spacing between sprockets). Generally 7 and 8 are the same spacing between sprockets, so a 7 speed cassette is narrower overall. A 7 speed freehub body, then, will not accommodate an 8 (or 9) speed cassette.

Strip down a 9 speed cassette and rebuild it as a 8.

Of course you'll need to do the math with the sprocket spacers and sprocket widths to be sure it would be the same overall width as a 7 speed cassette

I'm sure it could be done.

Are Xray Gripshifts still available?
