So, with regret I am having to part with my Raleigh Gran Tourismo dating from 1963
This is very similar to the Raleigh Gran Sport - in fact the frame is the same as the Gran Sport model and the spec was 90% the same.
This was the bike my grandad used to ride (not the same bike, but model) and I spent a good while tracking it down. But now its just gathering dust and the missus wants it out of the bedroom...
Its in stunning condition and I have recently fully serviced it, cleaning and re-packing the bearing in the headset, bottom bracket and hubs. Rides beautifully.
Price is £300 - will post at cost
Here is the breakdown of the build - its mostly original.
- Raleigh Gran Tourismo frame and forks - 21.5" ctc seatube and 21.5" ctc headtube
The frame has plenty of small chips and rubbing marks - but no dents or dings. High tensile steel - (very similar to 531 apparently, but Raleigh's ownbrand)
- GB allrounder bars - in perfect condition
- GB hindiminium stem - lovely condition too
- GB sprite brakeset with lovely matching levers (new Velo Orange brake pads)
- Raleigh hubs (32/40) on Dunlop Lightweight special rims in amazing condition
- Campagnolo Gran Sport rear derailleur in excellent condition
- Campagnolo Gran Sport shifter
- Raleigh Industries cottered crank set in great condition
- Campagnolo Gran sport pedals
- Sprung Brooks saddle in lovely condition
- Raleigh Industries seat post
- Raleigh Industries headest and bottom bracket
- Original Brooks saddle bag support
- Dunlop road race tyres in excellent condition
- Brooks leather bar tape
Upgrades:
- Honjo stainless steel fenders
- New Velo Orange white cable set
