I've been given the task of mechanic'ing the bike my partner and I are going to build up over the next month for a rider who is 5'6" with a 31.5" inside leg. The brief is for a training / recreational bike, built up as light as possible (with flat bars, 27 speed, dual pull brakes - like a modern sports hybrid but with a more classic feel) and we have a budget of £500-600 for complete build.
Rider will be female (but frame doesn't have to be) and I'm looking for a nice, light frame & fork to get ball rolling. Condition must be structurally at least 8 out of 10 (though paint can be worse as we may powdercoat it) with seat tube of approx 50cm c-c, it also must have bosses for mudguards and rear rack and be able to take modern 130mm rear 9 speed hub.
WHY? Please supply as much info as you can and weight if possible!
Cheers, Alex
