Like any material thing, the glow of love won't last forever though - You probably felt as enamoured of all the kit you are now flogging (before you actually bought it).

I'd be sad if all my stuff got skanked from the garage but it's not like they are my kids. I've had everything I own nicked a couple of times, and to be honest, it's not the end of the world.
