Why baggy shorts?

Interesting way the thread as gone as I wasn't really thinking baggy v lycra.

To me, lycra only looks good if you look like Contador and them. Someone bought me a jersey a few years back, it makes me look pregnant. The wife still hasn't stopped laughing.

I'm another one who wears lycra underneath baggies. i have never really worn lycra on it's own on the bike, I'm very self conscious. Even in my old racing days (both DH and XC) I wore baggies and didn't give a shit what other people thought!

+1 to that - you just got to wear what works for you. Riding MTBs can be tricky enough as it is, at times - let alone having to overcome clothes that impede you.

If baggies are so great why don't pro xc mtb racers wear them?

Wear what you feel comfy in. There isn't a clothing etiquette for leisure riding
