I find stilleto's work really well you can get a psuedo spd feel by jamming the heel into the gaps of the pedal

I used to use Vans until my arches started killing me on longer rides/sessions, and got some Adidas Berms which are awesome if you can find a pair...

Mates of mine also use 5 10s and Shimano DX shoes and love them too.

I checked out both fiveten and those adidas, they seem to fit the bill
Stilettos are not my thing though
And I´ll check out those pins, even though the standard ones seem to grip a lot more than I ever thought. And to thnk I never even considered them before

when they first had them on sale.........they're awright, and a right bargain if ye match the sizes they've got left.

I had a pair of Duff skate shoes that I used until they fell to bits. Really soft soles and high arches on the inside. Also a very tight fit around the ankle. Now I just use a pair of walking shoes that I got cheap in Go Outdoors and they do the job, better grip on the soles for the inevitable bits where I end up pushing the bike
