I personally cannot stand cantilever brakes.
I think they are an abomination of the 1990s.
Every time I see someone post something in pre-97 chat, I think to myself "Well they should have got v-brakes".
I even asked AI to come up with a few words about them:

Cantis helped sort the problem of reaching over a large tyre before vs came along.
Ironically vbrakes kept us safe from the fatbike (and the ensuing boost offset, chainline, thruaxle stuff) until the adoption of the disc brake.

Except where they had been crushed by the cable hanger or canti arm pinch bolt. The rest of the cable could still pull a truck
