What to do when a bike looks like this.

I might have someone that wants this built up, what to do with the paint.
No way in hell I can recreate this paints marble effect, ever.
Sourced a nice chromo fork but it's also scuffed and chipped, colour does fit well though.

What would you do?

Me?
Personally I'd leave the brown bits near the seat tube as it almost enhances the look. Think patina.
The rack bosses I would use a scouring pad on, get rid of the loose scaley bits.

You can rub rust zones over with aluminium foil, that tends to get rid of rust.

I do have stuff here called Ranex, nasty stuff but it will get rid of a good bit of rust.
Then clean/clay/wax the frame? How'd you get it not to rust farther though.
I'd assume carnabau wax ever so often?

Well, don't store it outside?
I dunno...
That seat tube looks pretty thick.
Some rust stops.
If no moisture is present, it cannot rust further.

It'll only rust completely through if you lie the bike down on its side in long grass and leave it there for months/years on end.

I actually [normally] loathe rust. I'm OCD about it. I just can't stand it. I hate it. I even get rid of the little steel bolt on speedometer or whatever, cause I know it's going to rust.

But for some reason, on that frame it doesn't look too bad. Maybe it's the pattern of chips... which actually looks a bit creative.

Just explain to buyers that mountain bikers BITD were real, manly men & the chipping around the seat cluster is from the original owner's watermelon-sized, glass-hard bollox?
