Picked this up locally.

Don’t know much about Univega and never owned one...

One owner bike from new.

Looks in good fettle and pretty much standard apart from an upgraded Deore LX 8 speed shifters V brake levers and cassette. Also the guy thinks the original handlebar is at his parents house so will try and locate it for me.

Plans?...

Well, paint is pretty good with only a few chips and bits of paint rub which will easily touch up. All decals are intact inc original dealer shop decal so will defo not do a respray/PC on this one. Even has original reflectors present!

Thought the guy was gonna shed a tear as I walked away with it!

I’ll change out the saddle and might even go for something funky to match some dark green grips? Thinking of a black seatpost to match the stem and some gumwall tyres. New chain and cassette maybe...

Apart from that just a touch up and service of all moving parts.

The first pic of top tube is really just to show the worst paint chip really.

This will be retro bike number 4 though so out of this, the 1997/8 Sunn Xircuit, 1991/2 Kona Lava Dome (being built) and 1994 Specialized Stumpjumper (in queue to be renovated) there will have to be a cull sadly at some point.

But a lot of my enjoyment is in the actual renovation.....

Re:

Stuck a front wheel with table top from my lava dome build onto the Univega and defo gonna get another set for this build.

Really brings out the colours I think...

Needs original flat black bars tho... need to source some :|

The v-brake / cantilever combination is making my brain itch!

Re:

Thanks for tyre link....

I know what u mean re brakes!

I do have full set of XT V brakes inc levers I could fit when I get around to restoring it. Or should I source some original levers and shifters and return to 7 speed stock???

I’ve also put this up for sale momentarily In the pre 1997 for sale section due to other builds being in line first but I keep thinking it is too nice and has too much potential to sell this early on....

Re:

As it’s a couple down in the build queue I’ve stuck this up for sale as it is for £100 should anyone need it more than I do at the moment. Could be a stunner..,
