The British Eagle revisited - Page 8

A man of your talents can get that looking tip top again (the flite). WD_pro did on his proflex build thread with quality results.

Looks really nice in the light chap.

That's interesting... I'll take a look see if I can nick his ideas:)

It's a flite Ti as well so if can rejuvenate it that would be cool

For tonight's instalment I decided to unbend the rims

I have cunning method for this, low tech and zero budget of course!

It involves bending them back again, but obviously this needs to be controlled and progressive

A picture tells 1000...

Undesirable curves:

Here's my cheapo method of pushing them out:

Done in stages, clamp up tight against a piece of hardwood, I used maple go and have cuppa, release, check, clamp some more as appropriate!

The results are spot on

Most interested in how you straightened out these rims, I've got a rim I could do with doing the same with - so I think I'll give your cunning plan a try - thanks for posting the info.

The British Eagle Re-revisited

First scratch build I ever did and I still use it

But something was bothering me...

An anachronistic rear mech:

Quick check on the retro stash:

Yielded these beauties, two shorties, no good with a 52T big chainring... Three long cages

I used the roughest one:

Bike's in the car 'cos Mrs Hydora wanted to go for a ride today!

I turned my Mi80 into a WAG bike for her as it's really compact, sets up perfectly for her (seat angle looks iffy in this pic though):

Here's my BE in all it's glory:

And we rode about around here:

Nice Benz. I used to have an 89 230e 7 seater and miss the hell out of it.

With one of those, you don't need quick release wheels. ;)

Absolutely, as you can see, I don't bother taking the wheels off!

This is my second, first one (an '8:cool: just got too many miles on it and started to feel a bit sluggish (at 250k) so I bought this one, a '93 - Some 4 years and 70,000 miles ago now of a total 199k on the clock
