Surly Head Count

Re:

My guess is that you thought it an intelligent, well written and informative piece that you agree with wholeheartedly.

You can guess my opinion on that article.......

But Velo, without Surly, On-One wouldn't have a product range to copy/rip off/be inspired by.

...and as for copying/ripping off/being inspired by...........thats exactly what Surly do.

It's what they all do. Everything I see on bikes was invented before 1910. Maybe except fatbikes, but there were bespoke fatbikes being built in the immediate post WW1 period.

What Surly has done is to bring the tyres in bulk to the market. Without those, nothing, just useless frames.

Surly has popularised all those bikes that fitted into little niches with the result that more people can enjoy them. Previous efforts, while worthy, were like winking at a hot chick across a darkened room. The message wasn't getting across.

AFAIC Surly has deservedly cornered the quality plain steel bike market.

OK, I'll come in here to lower the tone.

Another site/forum I'm on has a swear filter, wink/winking is the filtered version of wank/wanking. And naw, it's no a porn site ya bams. :p
Because of that, that was the meaning I took from epicyclo's sentence.
I suppose it also conveys the same meaning.

OK,OK,

Even better analogy (or worse!) Never heard that one before.
