Specialized rockhopper

Just popped out to do some shopping, drove past the tip, went into the tip, found this specialized rockhopper for £15. Wasn't looking for another bike, don't really need one, but sometimes that means naff all lol. My initial plan was to swap some parts out to the marin but I've just taken it outside and despite the tyres being knackered it rides and functions perfectly, so good that the giant is in danger of being replaced. The brakes are honestly the most effective brakes I've ever known, almost chucked me over the handlebars.

Question is, anyone got any idea of date and if I'd be better off not stealing bits off it?

V brakes suggest a 96 model probably. If you want to build it up I've got a spare saddle that would suit.

It’s a 1996 Rockhopper A1, upgraded to V-Brakes. 96 model came with quill stem and cantilevers in this colour. This was a £750 bike in 1996.

{Not a 97 despite the V brakes - 97 model was orange or blue, with aheadset and V- brakes (and the Specialized logo's were on the downtube from 97)}
