SOLD - £600 - Stumpjumper M2 Dew Green 1997

pgamble

Retro Newbie
Due to lack of garage space after buying 2 new MBs (mine and my wife's), I'm very reluctantly having to sell my pride and joy Stumpy.
It has only done about 1000 miles and had always been stored on a wall mount in the garage.
I switched mostly to a Cross / racer in last few years with my wife and before that fun with children meant it got little use aside from its first 2 years. It's never been used as it should (mostly paths and quiet woodland - I know, embarassing),
2 years ago PedalHeaven in Fleet serviced and the tech nearly cried it is so mint.
I changed the seat last year. 3 years ago I upgraded the front mech from Deore to XTR. The tyres are now S-Works Captain. Aside from this it is all original with near perfect Dew Green metallic paint. This was the last Stumpy made in the US.
It's Judy fork also still works as new.
This won't be a hurried sale. I want it to go to someone who will love it and appreciate it. That will also mean a sensible sale price for what it is.
If you're interested, let me know your thoughts. The attached pictures were taken today (15/4/2019).

I'm looking for £600 ono.

best regards

Paul

Re: Stumpjumper M2 Dew Green 1997 - almost mint and original

Needs a firm asking price please Paul

Re: Stumpjumper M2 Dew Green 1997 - almost mint and original

Only just started thinking about selling it so it's hard.
My understanding is that they are fairly sort after if in good original condition and they almost certainly won't get better than this. Looking on ebay, I've seen older one for £500. As such (and after the £200) service it had circa 200 miles ago, I'd think I'd be starting at £650.

As I say, very little idea right now and was hoping to gauge opinion.

Whilst it hasn't been washed since a Basingstoke Canal ride last weekend, I'm sure you can tell the condition and originality from the images - given that, am I in a sensible place price wise ?

Thanks Pip

Have put price of £600 in edited ad. Hopefully that is ok.

Best regards

Paul

Sorry, don't mean to be a party pooper, but I paid £100 for mine and this one just sold on Ebay?

Re:

Appreciate that. There does seem quite a variation. Some maybe unrealistic expectations.

In my case, the bike is so new from use perspective meaning parts that are otherwise very hard and costly to replace like 8sp XT / XTR, Judy T2 etc are less likely to cause issues for a buyer. At much less than I'm asking, I would be driven to part with or would give to a friend who I knew would benefit from and love it. Obviously prospective buyers would really want a near mint bike of that model and colour to spend that much and I guess that is what I'm looking for. It's a lot of bike for £600 if you look what that buys you now. The XTR mech alone was more than £100 a couple of years ago and took 9 months to find.

I'll be a little patient and see what happens. Hope you enjoy yours. They are gorgeous to ride.

Godda agree with Gaddmeister's comments here, I don't think you'll find any buyers on this site at your asking price... :(

"The XTR mech alone was more than £100 a couple of years ago and took 9 months to find"... you should have given me a shout, I'd have saved you a fortune and hella lot of time...

Lovely bike though, like the colour, just over-valued...

Re:

Not going to knock you for trying but definitely over top dollar. The picture shows an xt mech Yet you say xtr. I've had both for under £50 each. It's about what someone is willing to pay and I think you'll be lucky to find someone will to pay that.

As for what you get for your money now you have to think of the advances in technology. What was XTR is now deore.

Either way good luck with the sale.

13. Keep commentary on pricing to a minimum #the value of retro parts is very subjective.

I think the minimum commentary has been exceeded now, thanks :)
