"off road tourer"

please define

In my case it is a Xizang with a quids worth of pannier rack on the back. Any bike with rack mounts will do and as in my case p-clips can be used if you don't have rack mounts.

that was my thoughts TK
a bike with a rack

mind you that nishiki might be a prime candidate for a build

An off road tourer is just a tourer you ride off road its not a new sub genre

I've ridden a Dawes Galaxy around the Cairngorms off road

Oooww yes spend all your time wondering if the next BANG! will be the one that breaks the frame, and using all your concentration counteracting the frame bending and twisting, sounds like fun :?

Ha - the frame I'm using is 19 years old, lightweight alu and already has a fairly sizeable ding in the non-driveside chainstay!

Don't get me wrong you can use any frame you like ;)
But I want to enjoy the ride and the scenery not worried or distracted by the bike.

BTW (News just in) It looks like Ive got my self a Bob Yak

RobMac, if you insist on using a tourer made of Titanium spagetti then your paranoia is justified

Never felt my Galaxy was twisting beneath me or was in danger of snapping and mine was one of the skinny 70's machines. The 80's onward models had beefed up frame tubes and were even tougher. Brazed 531 is the steel of choice ;)

223 miles maybe more and I know nothing about it honest
December solstice then? Good, glad that's settled then. Lights optional.
