Seatpost slippage

Remove the grease and use a light (as in very light) coat of oil spread onto the post with a finger. The oil is there to reduce corrosion between the post and the frame, so there doesn't need to be much. I got it wrong last year (too much oil) and found my post dropped by about 1cm sometime during a couple of months.
 
USE shock posts were notorious for slipping. They coated it in the same stuff as a bomber stanchion and it was impossible even dry to get it tight enough to grip the surface.
