Raleigh Randonneur

Hi guys, time for an update.

All of the new parts have arrived now, and I'm ready to start putting it all together. At least, that was the case until I tried to fit a new derailleur and found that the hanger is completely stripped! No wonder it had no derailleur come with it.

So, after doing some research, I need to decide between using helicoils or a dropout saver.

Has anyone had any experience using either of these? Or even better, any other, cheaper options? Simply re-threading the hole won't be enough as there isn't enough material left.

Other than that, the build is coming along nicely; I'll update with pictures as I go.

Cheers

I have an early Randonneur as my main winter trainer. They are brilliant to ride and soak up the miles. A new fork may help get the best out of the ride quality.

Quality bike, and on fleabay they fetch really good money.
