Proflex 856

I paid 125 quid for the one in my Post a couple of days ago -

"Bought this yesterday and took it for a wintry outing this a.m.

Forecast is hard frost/ground for next few weeks so I thought some bounce would help my aging back - it rides quite well, altho' I need a longer seat post. The long travel (!) Indy Cs are fine for my 9st but the rear spring is clearly for one heavier than I.

"Stickers" say it's an 857 Beast: is that what it is? Any ideas as to what sort of age (I'm guessing early '90s)? Would it have had Girvins - and if so are they any better than the Indys?

The Ti Profile 'bars are nice - as is the Ti railed WTB Shadow (altho' the latter isn't very comfortable under me!)."

Yours is obviously "worth" more with the proper forks! Have to say that I wouldn't spend any money on mine - could get a much MUCH better modern full susser 2nd hand for half a grand!

Looks like mine is also an 856. And it will almost certainly be sold on at buying price or below within a month!

the beasts were later bit more dh focussed and just before K2 took them
over seemed to dissappear not long after that

the 85(7) was 97 think about that time they lost the elastomer shocks
the beast was iirc yellow/black sorta ripped paintjob and tripple clamps
imho not as desirable as the 856/7
